The teams of volunteers of the Médiathèque Volante (formerly known as Street&Read) go out on the streets to bring culture, reading and information to anyone who wants it — for free.
Following in the steps of the Bulle and Rolling Douche associations, the teams go to Place Flagey on Mondays and to the Esplanade de l’Europe (near the South Station) on Fridays. The volunteers invite those waiting to wash their clothes or take a shower to have a friendly chat about a book or over a cup of coffee.
The Médiathèque Volante works hand in hand with the Maison du Livre de Saint-Gilles, which can offer our audience activities linked to reading and writing.
The aim of this project is to look beyond immediate needs and enable destitute people and volunteers to meet on equal terms.
